Alpha Omega International Dental Society will host a commemoration and memorial observance program October 11 featuring a presentation on the role of forensic dentistry in human identification.
The virtual program, scheduled for 11 am ET, will feature Esi Sharon, DMD, recipient of the Alpha Omega Achievement Award. Dr. Sharon will discuss how dental evidence can be used to establish identity, drawing on her experience leading the Dental Section of the Israel National Police Division of Identification and Forensic Science.
According to Alpha Omega, the presentation will examine the methods used in forensic dental investigations as well as the challenges involved in identifying unknown individuals through dental evidence. Dr. Sharon will address the role dental professionals can play in the identification process. The society said the program will highlight how forensic dental work can help give a name to unidentified individuals and provide information to their families.
The presentation will offer Dr. Sharon’s firsthand perspective on the science behind forensic dental identification and the practical application of dental evidence in identification investigations.
The event is being presented as Alpha Omega International Dental Society’s Commemoration & Memorial Observance Program of October 7.
