Dyson has launched the Dyson CameraJet™, a toothbrush that combines an integrated camera, machine learning, sonic brushing, and targeted mouthrinse delivery to identify and clean interdental spaces while brushing.
According to the company, the CameraJet uses a 100,000-pixel macro lens camera and Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting™ machine learning algorithm to analyze 28 live images per second and identify gaps between teeth in real time. Within 100 milliseconds of detecting a gap, the system can trigger a conical burst of mouthrinse into the interdental space. Dyson says its machine learning system was trained on 470,000 dental images collected during development, and the device operates using 16 million lines of code.
“Flossing is an awkward and time-consuming chore. Few of us do it even though we know we should. Dyson engineers and scientists have spent well over a decade understanding oral care regimes and how nasties build up in the mouth. Our research has shown that people consistently miss the areas where plaque forms: the gaps between teeth,” says James Dyson, founder and chief engineer.
“We wanted to solve three fundamental problems: how to see those gaps, remove plaque, and how to improve cleaning performance while brushing. By combining a camera, machine learning, precision fluid dynamics, advanced brushing technologies, connectivity and WiFi, Dyson CameraJet™ introduces an entirely new way to keep your mouth healthy,” Dyson said.
The device incorporates a conical jet developed to deliver mouthrinse across interdental areas. According to Dyson, laboratory testing using a proprietary proxy plaque developed through a funded research collaboration with the National University of Singapore Faculty of Dentistry found differences between conventional needle-shaped jets and Dyson’s conical design. The company says the broader spray pattern is designed to sweep away plaque while operating at lower pressure.
CameraJet includes a 12.5-mL mouthrinse tank designed to dispense mouthrinse during the brushing routine. An anti-gravity tank uses a diaphragm pump and pressure chamber to deliver controlled jets when the toothbrush is upright, angled, or horizontal, according to the company.
The toothbrush also incorporates variable sonic oscillation, which changes the angle of oscillation during brushing to help keep the bristles moving. According to company-cited external laboratory testing, CameraJet removed up to 69% more plaque than market-leading premium electric toothbrushes in hard-to-reach areas when tested in brush-only variable mode.
Its dual-bristle brush head uses firmer inner bristles intended to remove surface stains and softer outer bristles for cleaning along the gingival margin. Each brush head has an RFID tag that allows the device to identify the head, track the number of cleaning sessions, and alert the user when replacement is due. A sensitive brush head variant is also available.
CameraJet connects through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to the MyDyson™ app. The integrated camera functions as an endoscope and can provide live viewing through the app. According to Dyson, the camera is active only during live viewing or automatic jetting, and images are not recorded or stored on the device or in the cloud. App functions include guided cleaning, instructional videos, brushing and flossing information, coverage mapping, personalized feedback, selection between automatic and manual jetting modes, and brushing-intensity adjustments. App functionality may vary by market and requires an internet connection and compatible device.
The system includes a docking station that, according to Dyson, can refill the toothbrush in three seconds while also charging and storing the device. A travel case is included.
Dyson also plans to introduce a non-foaming toothpaste formulated without sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and a low-foaming mouthrinse for use with CameraJet. According to the company, the formulations are designed to minimize foam that could interfere with the camera and Gap Optical Targeting system.
The Dyson CameraJet launched Sept. 1, 2026, at a price of $499 and is available in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink. The package includes a refill dock, two regular brush heads, and a charging cable. More information is available at https://www.dyson.com/oral-care.
