Synchrony announced that CareCredit credit cardholders can now use the card for eligible health and wellness purchases on Walmart.com, expanding payment access beyond its existing use in Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations nationwide.
The update allows cardholders to complete transactions online with options for home delivery or in-store pickup. The expansion also broadens the range of eligible product categories available for purchase using the CareCredit credit card, both online and in physical retail locations.
Newly eligible categories include medical supplies and equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, and walking canes; fitness products including treadmills, stationary bikes, and weights; and sleep-related items such as mattresses, pillows, and sheets. The company also noted that pet care items, including specialized food and flea and tick treatments, fall within the expanded scope of eligible purchases.
"The healthcare journey extends far beyond the doctor's office, and we're committed to connecting consumers with credit options so they can access health and wellness products and services at their local retailer and during the moments that matter most," said Beto Casellas, executive vice president and chief executive officer of health & wellness at Synchrony. "Expanding our relationship with a trusted retailer like Walmart is a pivotal step in giving millions of families the flexibility and convenience to pay for their wellness needs where they shop."
Synchrony reported that there are more than 12 million CareCredit cardholder accounts nationwide. The card is accepted at more than 290,000 health and wellness providers, health-focused retailers, and traditional retailers offering health-related products. The company stated that the expanded relationship with Walmart is intended to increase the utility of the CareCredit credit card for everyday health and wellness purchases.
The collaboration reflects changes in consumer purchasing behavior, with options for in-store shopping, online ordering, home delivery, and pickup. Synchrony stated that the update is designed to provide cardholders with additional flexibility in how they access and pay for health and wellness products.
