Pearl has introduced Pearl Voice, an AI assistant designed to document clinical interactions in dental practices by capturing and transcribing conversations between clinicians and patients and converting them into structured records.
The system generates clinical documentation in real time, including SOAP notes, periodontal charts and other dental-specific formats. According to the company, the tool is intended to address the time demands associated with manual documentation by transforming chairside conversations into structured notes that can be entered into practice management systems.
“Scribing and charting are essential to high-quality care, but the manual documentation process pulls providers away from the patient and often extends the workday for clinicians,” said Ophir Tanz, founder and CEO of Pearl. “Pearl Voice captures the clinical encounter as it happens, making the output, whether a doctor’s notes on a patient visit or a hygienist's measurements in a perio exam, more complete and accurate. The time savings is significant and dentists can reinvest time saved into patient communication and care, where their expertise matters most.”
Pearl Voice includes ambient listening and transcription capabilities that capture natural conversations and convert them into structured clinical notes; voice-enabled periodontal charting that records measurements based on spoken input; more than 30 procedure-specific templates covering exams, restorations and surgical procedures; background recording that continues as users navigate between screens; documentation support intended to address claim challenges and litigation; and integration with practice management systems to reduce duplicate data entry.
The company states that voice-enabled perio charting allows clinicians to complete periodontal exams without manual transcription, potentially changing how hygienists and assistants divide responsibilities during appointments. Early adopters report time savings and more standardized documentation across providers.
“The documentation workflow in our office has improved dramatically since implementing Pearl Voice,” said Dr. Daniel Naysan, a dentist at Bedford Dental Group. “I’m saving at least 60 minutes a day and my notes are cleaner. They’re also more standardized across my partners, so there’s more fluid patient handoff between us and broadly better compliance with clinical documentation requirements.”
Pearl Voice expands the company’s AI platform beyond radiologic analysis into clinical documentation and workflow support. The company indicates that integrating diagnostic tools, documentation and operational systems is part of its broader effort to connect different stages of care delivery within dental practices.
"We see AI as the key to taking the friction out of the entire dental care journey, from initial diagnosis and documentation all the way through to treatment delivery," Tanz added. "Pearl Voice is a central part of the broader, smarter, and more efficient end-to-end AI platform we're building to empower better dentistry."
Founded in 2019, Pearl develops AI systems for dental applications, including tools that assist with interpreting dental imaging and supporting clinical decision-making. The company reports that its technology has received regulatory clearance in multiple countries and is used to support patient care and communication.
