Dr. Bruce B. Baird, DDS, a respected clinician, educator, and leader whose work influenced the practice and management of dentistry for thousands of dental professionals in the United States and internationally, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 70.
Throughout his career, Dr. Baird was guided by the belief that professional success and service to others are not mutually exclusive, according to Productive Dentist Academy (PDA), which he co-founded. His contributions helped advance both the clinical and organizational aspects of dental practice, leaving a lasting imprint on the profession.
A 1980 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, Dr. Baird began his career serving in the US Army before establishing a private practice in Granbury, Texas. Over more than three decades, he developed that practice into a multi-doctor operation while remaining actively engaged in patient care, mentorship, and professional education.
In 2004, Dr. Baird co-founded PDA with Victoria Peterson. Together, they focused on supporting dentists through education in leadership, scheduling, communication, and practice management. Their work reached clinicians across all 50 US states and nearly 20 countries, contributing to improved efficiency, team engagement, and professional fulfillment within dental practices.
“Bruce was a visionary in every sense of the word, but more than that, he cared deeply about people, his family, his colleagues, and the dental professionals we serve,” said Victoria Peterson, co-founder and CEO of PDA. “He believed that when dentists are supported, empowered, and equipped to lead well, everyone benefits. That belief is the foundation of everything we do, and it will continue to guide us forward.”
Dr. Baird was also widely known as an educator and speaker, presenting nationally and internationally on topics including cosmetic and implant dentistry, leadership development, team dynamics, and the business aspects of practice ownership. His teachings were shared through seminars, workshops, and The Productive Dentist Podcast. He was the author of Legendary Leadership, in which he outlined principles shaped by his clinical experience and professional journey.
In 2011, Dr. Baird founded Comprehensive Finance Inc. (now Compassionate Finance) to expand financing options for healthcare providers and patients. He later continued his involvement with the organization following its acquisition, contributing his perspective as an advisor and investor.
Colleagues consistently noted that Dr. Baird’s impact extended well beyond operational metrics. He emphasized mentorship, personal growth, and aligning professional goals with a meaningful life outside the practice.
“Bruce’s motto was, ‘Become the best at whatever it is you do, then share it with others,’” said PDA Chief Communications Officer Regan Robertson. “His generosity and enthusiasm for elevating the world through genuine care and service reflect the kind of work that creates a positive impact for generations to come.”
Dr. Baird is survived by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. His legacy continues through the many clinicians he mentored, the organizations he helped establish, and the leadership principles he modeled throughout his career.
In keeping with his long-term vision, the organizations Dr. Baird helped build were structured to endure beyond any one individual. Productive Dentist Academy remains fully operational, supported by an established leadership team and faculty, and continues its work in service to the dental profession.
Dr. Baird will be remembered as a dedicated dentist, thoughtful leader, and generous teacher whose influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
