VideaHealth has created the formation of the VideaHealth AI Leadership Council (ALC), a new advisory group composed of dental executives, clinicians, and industry innovators focused on the responsible adoption and long-term role of ambient and applied artificial intelligence in dentistry.
The Council includes representatives from a range of large and mid-sized dental service organizations (DSOs), including Heartland Dental, Great Expressions Dental Centers, 42 North Dental, Gen4 Dental Partners, Riccobene Associates, and Cherry Tree Dental. Together, these organizations encompass a broad cross-section of practice models and patient populations, offering practical insight into how AI tools may be implemented in real-world clinical and operational settings.
“AI will make its greatest impact in dentistry when leaders work together to guide its adoption,” said Florian Hillen, CEO and founder of VideaHealth. “The AI Leadership Council allows us to collaborate directly with those driving progress across the field to ensure AI’s evolution is both clinically sound and designed for long-term adoption and scale. Together, we’re building the foundation for the industry’s AI future.”
According to VideaHealth, the ALC is intended to function as a collaborative forum rather than a commercial body, with an emphasis on shared learning, clinical relevance, and responsible governance.
“I joined as a founding council member because I believe this group represents the next chapter of progress for our industry,” said Dr. Timothy J. Quirt, DDS, MBA, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at Heartland Dental. “The opportunity to help shape its foundation—bringing together innovation, leadership, and collaboration—aligns perfectly with my passion for creating scalable impact. What excites me most is the chance to work alongside other forward-thinking leaders to define not just what’s possible today, but what’s next.”
Guiding Clinical and Operational Integration
The Council plans to examine how AI can be integrated into dental diagnostics, clinical workflows, and patient communication while maintaining standards of care, transparency, and clinician oversight. Members will draw on their operational and clinical experience to help define best practices and frameworks that may support consistent and ethical use of AI technologies across dentistry.
“This is a pivotal moment in dentistry—where rising payor pressures, shifting patient expectations, and workforce challenges are demanding new, transformative solutions," said Dr. Jessica Buehler, President and CCO of Great Expressions Dental Centers. “I see this council as a chance to help shape the future of dentistry in a way that empowers providers, improves access, and enhances patient outcomes through the responsible and strategic use of AI.”
Development of a Dental AI Playbook
One of the Council’s initial projects will be the creation of The Dental AI Playbook, a resource designed to help dental organizations and clinicians evaluate AI tools, establish governance structures, and assess clinical and operational impact. The Playbook is expected to reflect input from Council members and focus on practical considerations rather than product promotion.
“AI brings greater clarity to diagnosis - empowering more confident, informed treatment decisions,” says Lorri Detrick, President and COO of Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry. “Its impact on dentistry is unfolding quickly, and this Council will play an active role in guiding what comes next.”
Broad Representation Across the Profession
The ALC includes leaders from national DSOs, regional groups, and organizations with varying clinical and operational models. The stated goal is to encourage collaboration across the profession and support shared standards for AI adoption.
“Dentistry is uniquely positioned to lead healthcare in demonstrating what safe, measurable, and meaningful AI adoption looks like,” Hillen added. “This Council ensures that innovation happens with the industry, not just for it.”
