Ultradent Products, Inc. has partnered with the University of Utah School of Dentistry to distribute up to 80,000 fluoride varnish treatments to communities throughout Utah. According to the company, more than 10,000 treatment doses have already been shipped to local health centers and participating Head Start programs, with the remaining doses expected to be delivered during the fall.
“Fluoride has proven oral health benefits and we know Utah families remain committed to ensuring their children benefit from its protection,” said Dirk Jeffs, president and CEO of Ultradent. “We hope these fluoride varnish treatments will mitigate some of the impacts of fluoride’s removal from public water supplies in our state. We’re proud to partner with the University of Utah School of Dentistry and local health professionals to bridge the gap in access and give children the opportunity for a healthier, brighter smile.”
The University of Utah School of Dentistry is providing training resources to support health care workers in administering the fluoride varnish treatments effectively.
“Ultradent's generous donation will help boost the University of Utah School of Dentistry’s mission to serve underserved communities across Utah in improving oral health,” said Heidi Iongi, DMD, MPH, director of community engagement and clinical integration for the University of Utah School of Dentistry.
Ultradent Products, Inc. develops and manufactures dental materials, devices, and instruments. The company also engages in financial and charitable initiatives aimed at improving oral health and overall well-being.
The University of Utah School of Dentistry operates eight clinics and a rural mobile dental clinic across the state, providing dental care in both urban and rural areas. The school combines education, research, and clinical outreach to expand access to dental services in underserved communities.
