Dental hygienists are dedicated to helping their patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health. When disease is present, early intervention is the best course of action. Our cover story in this issue of Inside Dental Hygiene is in keeping with this theme. As hygienists working in both private practice and public health settings explain, minimally invasive techniques involving silver diamine fluoride (SDF) and similar products can be used to treat caries and precarious lesions without drilling. These treatments can be used with all patients, and they are especially useful for those who are most vulnerable.
Inside Dental Hygiene traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, in July for the American Dental Hygienists' Association annual conference, ADHA24. The meeting offered plenty of educational opportunities, access to the latest products and technology, and much celebrating of achievements.
